Seppelt Winemakers can perform miracles but it’s a lot easier if nature helps out. Good wine is made in the vineyard. Ipso facto the best wine is made in the best vineyards. Joseph Seppelt understood this, his son Benno Seppelt understood it and it has become central philosophy of the House of Seppelt. It’s quite simple really - control over the source of grapes gives a wine company ultimate control over its wines. To this end, Seppelt, unlike many big wine companies, owns many of its vineyards. Grapes are grown in the proven premium areas of Australia including the Barossa Valley and Great Western as well as the new regions Seppelt pioneered. Good wine is made in the vineyard but it helps when you’ve got the right vineyards.
